PERMIT APPLICATION PROCESSING TIME:
PLEASE ALLOW 48 - 72 BUSINESS HOURS TO RECEIVE AN E-MAIL RESPONSE REGARDING THE STATUS OF YOUR PERMIT APPLICATION. PERMITS ARE NOT VALID UNTIL APPROVED, PAID FOR, AND ISSUED.
PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR A PERMIT, PLEASE REVIEW THE APPLICATION CHECKLISTS FOUND IN THE DOCUMENTS TAB BELOW FOR REQUIRED SUBMITTAL(S).
If all required submittals have not been received and plan review fees have not been paid within 48 hours, the permit application will be cancelled.
BUILDING CODE ADOPTION:
The Governor has approved the code adoption scheduled for Feb. 1, 2021 12:01 AM. With that said, the City of Olympia will be doing business as usual, (with a social distancing safety filter in process). Some processes may have minor delays but should not be anything too unusual. All applications for building permits submitted before Feb. 1, 2021 12:01 AM will be under the current 2015 code review and anything submitted after Feb. 1, 2021 12:01 AM will be reviewed under the new adopted 2018 codes. All local (OMC) Olympia Municipal codes will be voted on and request for approval from City Council Feb. 2, 2021 in the evening.

In addition the City of Olympia will consider extension of existing issued building permits that may expire due to inactivity caused by Covid-19 related impact. A written request to extend such permits to Dec. 31, 2021 may be submitted to email@example.com for consideration by the Olympia Building Official or designee. The City of Olympia requires extension of permits be requested in writing and approved by the Building Official or designee before the permit expires per code requirements and the OMC.
INSPECTION REQUEST SCHEDULING:
**Inspection requests are required to be made by 5:00 PM the previous day to be on the next day's schedule. Inspections will be only scheduled for projects meeting Governor Inslee's 30 point plan. Most inspections will be conducted between the hours of 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Inspectors will be available to contact between the hours of 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
VIRTUAL INSPECTION PROGRAM:

NEW REQUIREMENTS FOR ISSUING SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL PERMITS:
To comply with current City regulations with the construction and inspection of single-family dwellings (Single Family Homes, Townhomes, and Duplexes) there was a need to make changes to the process for permit issuance, payment of fees and inspections. Starting on September 18, 2020, both the water meter permit and the SFR Civil Permit will be required to be issued prior to the building permit. The water meter permit requirement has been in effect since mid-2019.
